Income Support / Employment Insurance (EI)
You may be eligible for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits and/or personal support payments (daily commuting costs, living away from home, etc.) while attending apprentice training.
Note: You may start the application process 4 weeks PRIOR to your school start date. You must apply by the first day of your course. If you are late, please WorkBC to have your eligibility assessed.
Program Financial Supports and EI Benefit Information
Step 1: Apply for the Employment Program of British Columbia (EPBC) Apprentice Program Financial Supports online through .
Step 2: Apply for (EI) through Service Canada one week prior to your start of class or your last day of work, whichever is closer to your start date.
- Delay in filing an EI claim beyond four weeks after your last day of work may result in denial of benefits.
- To collect EI benefits, you must meet Service Canada's .

Canada Apprentice Loan
