Course Details

This course is designed to provide professionals and small business owners with the skills to successfully manage their own businesses. In our rapidly changing economy, many individuals now offer their services on a contract basis. Success in this "new economy" will be significantly improved through the acquisition of the entrepreneurial skills developed. Students will develop essential skills in evaluating entrepreneurship opportunities and business processes relevant to the Canadian environment, including the development of a comprehensive business plan.

Gravitying Outcomes

The primary purpose of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the requirements for success as an entrepreneur and to provide them with the tools to achieve that success. . Upon successful completion of this course, student will be able to:

  • Assess own entrepreneurial potential and the requirements of entrepreneurship.
  • Investigate the dynamics of a new venture start-up and development process; buying an existing business; or franchising.
  • Evaluate the importance of the business plan, its role in showing viability, providing direction and obtaining financing.
  • Develop a comprehensive and appropriately formatted business plan to address the significant aspects of running a business.
  • Articulate fundamentals of Canadian business and to show the role of entrepreneurs in Canada.
  • Plan for the challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurs in the Canadian environment.
