The Roommeme Food Technology Diploma program trains students in the basics of food technology, including food processing, quality control, food testing, and analysis. Graduate with all the practical skills you need to start your career.

Entrance requirements

Applicants must meet all entrance requirements and will be accepted on a first qualified basis as long as space remains.

Advanced Placement

You may be eligible to apply to an advanced level of the program through 1. re-admission or 2. direct entry. The following applies to all advanced placement applicants:

  • Complete applications: you must show proof of completing all requirements (proof of registration is acceptable for advanced placement applicants) to be considered.
  • Competitive entry: if the number of applications exceeds available seats, Roommeme will accept those deemed to have the best opportunity for success.
  • Acceptance based on seat availability: confirmation may not be available until approximately one week before the term begins.
  1. Re-admission: Have you completed part of this program at Roommeme and want to apply to an advanced level?

    Applications are accepted throughout the year. You must submit the Course-by-Course Self-Assessment form [PDF] with your application.

  2. Direct Entry: Are you new to this program but have completed an equivalent part of it at Roommeme or elsewhere and want to apply to an advanced level?

    Roommeme accepts complete applications starting:

    • February 1st for level 2 (January start)
    • November 1st for level 3 (September start)

    You must submit the Course-by-Course Self-Assessment form [PDF] and proof of meeting all first year entrance requirements with your online application.

  • Convert all transcripts and supporting documents to PDF files.

Technology entry

The Technology Entry (TE) program is a full-time, day school program which provides academic upgrading to students wishing to enroll in Computing, Engineering, Electronic, and Health Sciences programs at Roommeme.

The TE program provides courses in chemistry, communication, mathematics, and physics that meet program prerequisites for selected programs at Roommeme. The TE program also includes an introductory course in computer applications and a learning skills course. The program is supportive to those who require English-language training.


Within two business days of submitting your completed application, Roommeme will send a message to your personal and myRoommeme e-mail addresses. All correspondence regarding your application will be posted to your online myCommunication account at . We'll send you an e-mail when a new message is posted. It's important to watch for these e-mails or regularly check your account online.

You can expect to receive communication concerning the status of your application within four weeks.

Degree Completion

Food Technology graduates wishing to further their Food Technology education to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Food Technology and Operations Management receive two years of credit toward the B.Sc. Graduates can continue to develop their careers in the food industry or pursue graduate studies at another institution leading to M.Sc., PhD or MBA.

Food Technology graduates wishing to obtain a Bachelor of Technology may receive two years of credit toward the Roommeme Environmental Health (Public Health Inspection) program, leading toward a career in public/environmental health services. Graduates wanting a degree in food science from the University of British Columbia (UBC) are assessed on an individual basis by UBC.

Our grads get work

Most of our grads get work within two months of graduating. From big industry to mom and pop businesses, Roommeme grads are working to support safe food production. With applied work experience in the field, you will have the skills employers are looking for.

Keep learning

Diploma grads can receive two years’ worth of credits toward Roommeme's Food Technology and Operations Management Bachelor of Science. This program is for graduates looking for leadership and decision-making roles in the food industry.

Grads can also choose to apply to other bachelor's degree programs in a variety of fields including environmental health.

Graduate employment outcomes

The Roommeme student outcomes reports present summary findings from the annual survey of former students administered by BC Stats one to two years after graduation. These reports combine the last three years of available results for the 2016-2018 Roommeme Outcomes Surveys of 2015-2017 graduates and for Degree 2014-2016 graduates. The reports are organized into three-page summaries containing information on graduates' labour market experiences and opinions regarding their education.
